| Environmental Advisory Service
(EAS) established since 1981 as a community based architectural consultancy service
is dedicated to providing a comprehensive and unique service on the provision
of a better quality of life for the elderly and people with disabilities as well
as encouraging the design of physical environments that enable the elderly and
people with disabilities to make the most of their lives and to be as independent
as possible.
EAS is a specialist service of the Rehabaid Society.
The Services in which EAS specialize are:
(a) to provide technical information and advice on complying
with the Design Manual: Barrier Free Access 2008
(b) to provide customized training to advise specific groups
on accessibility issues, fire safety measures, sensitivity training for dealing
with people with disabilities
(c) to provide comprehensive building audits assessing the
accessibility of various existing public and private premises. These reports
identify the physical barriers and the problems in the existing environment
and provide advice on design solutions tailored specifically to meet the
individual needs
(d) to provide specialist and expert consultations to Planners,
Architects and Designers to assist and to ensure that all mandatory access
requirements are provided according to the current regulations
(e) to provide specialist input during the planning and design
stages on accessibility aspects, for new projects, and premises undergoing
substantial renovation, alterations or additions
(f) to provide written evaluations of drawings for construction
projects with special emphasis on the design needs of elderly and people
with disabilities
(g) to provide consultations and advice on the strengths and
weaknesses of architectural products/ materials from the point of view of
their usability by elderly and people with disabilities
